Code of Doctrine
🌳Be good to yourself
Having the capacity to take care of others and take care of the planet starts with taking care of yourself. Nurture a sense of risk analysis. As much as possible, avoid needlessly reckless activities. Legal vices should be enjoyed in moderation, and help should be sought if they become overwhelming. A member should endeavor to improve themselves, be that physically, mentally, or spiritually. It is understood that circumstances may preclude a person from actively working on themselves at times, and if this is the case a member should focus on taking care of themselves the best they can, so that when conditions change, work toward further growth can be undertaken. The faith believes in bodily autonomy, as conscious beings need to be able to make the choices that align best with their path of growth. As part of being good to yourself, the Faith considers personal protective equipment part of the official church garb in situations that would warrant it. Removing the existing plants from an area being wilded can be dangerous work, so gloves, masks, thick clothing, and eye protection are all encouraged as needed. Beyond that, some members may experience situations in which longer-term protection is required. This may include, but is not limited to, members who suffer from allergies and require masks during pollen season, or those who live in areas with large mosquito populations and require protective netting to get the most out of their contemplation. These safeguards should be seen as in no way detracting from the process of wild contemplation. Members living in areas with high rates of disease transmission are encouraged to wear masks and other protective equipment to avoid exposure.
🌳Be good to others
One of the aims of being good to yourself is to be in a better position to help others. Within their means and abilities, members should try to improve the lives of those around you. As an example, if a neighbor sees their personal wild space creation and asks for assistance with their own, be glad to assist. Being good to each other can be hard. We live in an incredibly interconnected world. Our actions sometimes have consequences far beyond our immediate intentions. When possible, members should be aware of the agendas of the organizations they work with and think about where the money they spend eventually ends up. Whenever given options, a member should choose the path that minimizes harm and maximizes happiness. Members should allow others to live their lives in peace. People should be able to live their best life. Tolerate all ways of life that do not explicitly and intentionally bring harm to others. It is more important to treat others how they want to be treated than how you would want to be treated.
🌳Be good to the planet
Helping each other frees up resources and capabilities for being good to the planet. Nurturing relationships with others lays the foundation for working collectively on tasks too large for individuals. The average person's influence on the improvement of the planet seems small, however members should not give up hope. Personal choices in protecting the environment still matter. There are countless small ways to make an impact. Here are two examples of individual effort. Using plants native to your area in the creation of your contemplative space immediately improves the environment. Even the act of consistently removing invasive plants from the area gives nature a chance to heal. If a member lives in an area where it is feasible to do so, attempt to limit personal vehicle use for transportation as much as possible. Taking public transportation, walking, biking, or other ways to get around without using a car can make a difference. When possible, work with each other to bring about more meaningful changes for the betterment of the environment. We are stronger together than we are apart. Together we can fix things. Some example of collective effort include, but are not limited to, participating in environmental groups and conservation land trusts, supporting and encouraging environmental activism, and clean energy.
