Frequently Asked Questions

🌳Is Faith in the Wilds a registered charity??

Yes, Faith in the Wilds is a registered 501(c)(3) charity.

🌳Is there a required specific form of worship?

Any form of worship in keeping with the doctrine of Faith in the Wilds is appropriate and acceptable.

🌳What is the history of Faith in the Wilds?

In 2023, the First Guide found the work of wilding his property a surprisingly spiritual experience, and wanted to share this with others. This was the seed of the movement.

🌳Is Faith in the Wilds associated with any other church or denomination?

Membership is not associated with any specific other churches or sects. However, adherence to Faith in the Wilds does not explicitly preclude membership in another church or sect.

🌳Do you have an organization of ordained ministers?

Ordained ministers will be referred to as “Guides.” There will be a form online for those members who finish wilding their space. The submission of this form will ordain a member as a Guide. A picture of the completed space may be requested when submitting the form, but is not mandatory. The person who created the faith is referred to as “First Guide,” and will not be considered a figure of worship.

🌳Is there a specific course of study for becoming ordained?

No. A Guide can be ordained after creating their personal wild space of contemplation. The lessons learned in this endeavor confer the knowledge to help others along in their path. As this is a deeply personal process, and will vary highly depending on the personal situation of each member, there will be guidelines but few if any specific requirements.

🌳Are there specific places of worship?

Each member creates their own personal place of worship as part of Faith in the Wilds. While members are free to worship either in solitude or in company, there will be no physical head church location.

🌳Are there regular congregations?

Members are free to worship in the numbers they choose as part of their personal faith. There is no required size of a worship group.

🌳Are there regular religious services?

Weather and personal circumstances permitting, meaningful contemplation should occur at least once a week. Due to the outdoor nature of the faith, it may be unsafe and inadvisable to worship at certain times of year, for example during the local winter in regions that experience temperatures below freezing.

🌳Will there be Sunday schools?

There will be no Sunday schools, as there are no established places of worship. In addition, certain aspects of the wilding process, such as the use of chemical herbicides and power tools in the removal of invasive plants, may be too dangerous for the participation of the young. However, members are encouraged to engage the young with the safer aspects of creating wild spaces, such as planting native plants, maintaining the space, and observing native fauna as it moves in.

🌳Are there schools for the preparation of members?

Since each member follows their own personal path, there will not be a dedicated school for members. The faith website will eventually have a collection of useful links to assist with the wilding projects of members.
